Can you tell us about what Veev does in the home building industry?
Veev is fundamentally reimagining how homes are built. Through a vertically integrated approach that brings design, engineering, and manufacturing under one roof, we are shifting homebuilding from a fragmented, manual process to a controlled, technology-enabled system.
Every element of a Veev home is manufactured to precision, from panelized walls embedded with electrical and plumbing to finishes that are installed offsite, ensuring exceptional quality, speed, and sustainability.
First, we have a strong engineering group that focuses on improving the design and manufacturing of homes faster with higher quality and precision in our Hayward factory.
Secondly, we’re transforming the process of building communities by replacing infill homes and tear-downs with new models in under 60 days. As our society and cities face a growing need for housing, we’re improving how we collaborate with municipalities to streamline growth and development.
Finally, we remain dedicated to protecting the environment and supporting the wellbeing of communities through responsible and sustainable choices. This commitment is essential for homeowners’ safety, investment, and peace of mind. For example, our design incorporates high-quality air purifying systems, environmentally friendly materials, and strong fire resiliency. A steel frame, as opposed to wood, and other fire-retardant materials are a few examples of what make a Veev home a wonderful place to live.
Going back to fire resilience – how is Veev addressing the wildfire risks in California, especially with the recent fires we’ve seen?
Fire resilience is a top priority for Veev, especially given the growing wildfire risks in California. We address it in multiple ways, primarily through design, research and development. We must continue finding new materials and construction methods, as well as identifying installation processes that always focus on the goal of improving our homes’ fire resiliency.
We’re also incorporating this into the manufacturing process. When we build in the factory and construct on-site, we’re thinking about the right quality, protection and electrical infrastructure to eliminate the possibility of fire both internally and externally.
It’s not just about building homes faster. It’s about building them smarter and better preparing for the realities our communities face.
It’s clear that Veev’s approach to home building is focused on resilience, sustainability, and speed. But what truly sets your homes apart from other technology-driven or modular homes?
We are not just building homes; we are building a smarter, faster, and more resilient future for housing. By applying advanced manufacturing and automation to an industry long overdue for change, Veev is setting a new standard for how communities are created.
The Lennar family is a key differentiator for Veev. As part of one of the largest and most respected homebuilders in the country, Veev has the backing, belief, and resources to scale transformational change across the industry. Lennar invested in Veev, and they truly believe we must continue to transform and improve the industry we love: home building.
What’s really unique is our approach to the business. We own the entire process of building each home. From land development to design, engineering, manufacturing, and sales, we control every step. That end-to-end integration is our superpower. It allows us to move into a city like San Jose, understand the community’s needs and deliver new housing in as little as 60 days, all while minimizing disruption. We can learn the city’s demographics, exactly what the municipality wants, and what people are looking for to impact the community in record time (2-3 months).
It’s important to remember that work must be not only fast but also community-friendly. A recent example is that we assembled a home across from a middle school in San Jose. Our construction process is so precise and non-invasive that we were able to assemble the wall system quickly, quietly, and without disturbing a single class or event. With so much of the work being completed off-site, and on-site assembly being streamlined, quick, and quiet, the school was able to continue its event without interruptions or excessive noise, showcasing how our approach benefits both homeowners and the surrounding community. That’s the future of homebuilding. And that’s Veev.
Veev’s approach focuses on building homes that adapt to modern needs. Can you tell us about your floor plans?
Innovation is at the core of what we do. At Veev, floor plans aren’t just designed. They’re engineered for precision. Every home we build is the result of a feedback loop between customers, communities, and our manufacturing process. We’ve heard directly from customers that families value homes that are ready for multigenerational living, so we’re integrating adaptable layouts, separate living spaces, and flexible room configurations to meet those needs.
From multigenerational layouts to flexible spaces, our homes are built to evolve with our homeowners.
The Model E (2,948 sf , 5 bedroom, 3.5 bathrooms), for example, is a home that we know fits the market and customers in Santa Rosa and San Jose. When I visited our first home in that area, I heard directly from the community, the Chamber of Commerce and the neighbors about how well the design fit into the city.
Our upcoming Model X (~3,000 sf, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathrooms) builds on that momentum, offering even more open spaces that offer greater lighting, more accessibility, and open areas to enjoy time with your family. We regularly incorporate learnings from customers, Lennar, and the market.
We’ve also improved our manufacturing processes with much more efficient and expedited foundation systems. We have a quicker assembly phase and work with trade partners to finish homes fast. In doing so, we reduce cycle time while increasing quality to deliver the perfect home.
Looking to the future, we’re aiming to release a new floor plan each quarter.
Veev’s floor plans clearly focus on multigenerational living. Can you tell us more about how homes like the Model X Jr ADU accommodate these needs?
The Model X with Junior ADU was built for multigenerational living. As we think about design, first floor en-suite bedrooms and flexible room configurations are examples of how we meet those needs from the start. We also allow our homes to feel modern and classic, as residents can personalize colors and finishes to better fit their styles.
As part of our future innovations, we want people to feel the soul of the home as soon as they step in the door. We want to deliver that specific flavor to each of our customers by better learning from them.
That flexibility and attention to detail really stand out. So, with all these innovative features, how has Veev’s acquisition by Lennar helped the company?
Our relationship with Lennar has helped tremendously. When I think about Lennar, the first word that comes to mind is focus. As a leader in homebuilding, Lennar brings deep experience, strong leadership, and a proven ability to scale with resilience and clarity.
With startups, the challenge isn’t having too few ideas, it’s deciding what to prioritize and perfect. Lennar’s acquisition really helped us focus on launching the Model E, acquiring more strategic homesites to build on and achieving operational excellence.
Scale is crucial too. We are part of a much larger organization with great marketing tools, online presence, and powers that we’re utilizing and partnering on. Lennar partners with bold, visionary companies driving innovation in home building. With its strong expertise, Lennar supports our advancements in technology, sustainability and homeowner-focused design, values it has championed since the start.
Culture is more important than ever in today’s workplace. In the Bay Area, for example, major tech companies are losing talent or relocating due to shifting values or priorities. At Veev, our mission is clear: to transform the industry by making homes more attainable, affordable, and sustainable, without compromising beauty. That purpose helps us attract and retain passionate talent who believe in this mission.
Veev is doing something truly innovative in the home building space. With all these advancements, what is your vision for Veev, and how has your background shaped that vision?
I spent 20 years in the energy industry building very large infrastructure projects, and what kept me there was the sense of purpose – knowing I was helping make the world a better place. If I was going to devote long hours, inspire others to join me on the adventure, and spend time away from people I love, there had to be a greater purpose. I was proud to be part of the energy revolution, thinking about sustainability and renewables to ensure we had a planet to live on.
After that experience and meeting with Lennar, I felt the next opportunity had to be in home building, helping people have more access to beautiful homes in a record time and creating spaces for families to make wonderful memories within.
From an operational standpoint, what I learned in the energy industry is that we must strive for perfection. Good is never good enough. When we’re building the homes of the future, there’s no room for shortcuts. We have a very important responsibility to our customers to get it right every time. This is why we’re committed to implementing the highest quality control processes, attention to detail, and customer focus to deliver amazing homes.
Is there anything else to add?
If I asked myself, “What does Veev look like in three years?” I’d think of it in three key areas.
The first is pure growth. It sounds simple, but I see Veev opening multiple factories in the U.S. as we continue to perfect and enhance our processes.
I see amazing innovation in introducing automation into the factory. We want to increase our manufacturing capacity with more automation and AI.
I’m also excited to continue surrounding our team with more remarkable talent. It’s been a fantastic journey finding more people who believe in our industry and our mission and are eager to put in the time and hard work it requires. We know if we are successful, the opportunity to transform the industry is significant.
